Ready for summer? Don’t forget – you’re beautiful just the way you are. If you’re thinking about slimming down, that’s okay, too! There’s no time like the present to commit to a healthy diet and regular exercise so you can look and feel your best by the time summer arrives. If you’re after faster results, or if you’re struggling with sticky fat deposits you can’t seem to get rid of despite your weight loss, you have options. It might be time to consider a more in-depth treatment option – like Smart Lipo.
What is Smart Lipo?
Smart Lipo is an FDA-approved minimally invasive alternative to full liposuction with far less downtime or side effects. Unlike the large cuts needed for traditional lipo, surgeons use Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) to liquefy the fat under the skin. From there, a tiny incision is made, allowing the surgeon to drain the fluidized fat off with only very gentle suction.
Smart Lipo vs. Traditional Liposuction
In traditional liposuction, patients almost always have at least some scarring, although a talented surgeon knows how to minimize the appearance of scars. The process of drawing off fat deposits is much more invasive and far rougher. This results in patients facing a week or two of downtime. In contrast, smart lipo patients can often return to work in just a day or two.
It is important to acknowledge that smart liposuction isn’t symptom-free; some localized swelling or bruising may occur. But the level at which this happens – and the risk of problems like blood clots or infections – is dramatically lower.
This procedure also has other distinct advantages. It’s possible to have treatment without general anesthesia, as the procedure isn’t as painful or risky as full liposuction. Both treatment options produce similar results, smart lipo’s laser technology is much better at targeting and erasing tougher adipose fat tissue.
It’s also more affordable – and that’s a win-win for patients!
Is Smart Lipo Right for You?
If you’re a relatively healthy person who has tried other weight loss methods with no luck, smart lipo may be right for you. The ideal patient is within 25 or 30 pounds of their desired optimal body weight and free from conditions like hypertension, bleeding disorders, heart disease, or kidney disease.
If you are pregnant or are currently attempting to get pregnant, you should hold off on this treatment. Some pregnant patients may be at a higher risk for side effects. Results could be lost as fat deposits reaccumulate due to pregnancy-related weight gain.
Even in the presence of some of these conditions, smart lipo may still be an option. Just be sure to tell your surgeon before the day of your procedure.
